Location, location… the venue

THE PERFECT WEDDING

Location, location… the venue

Written by Becks     |    24th July 2017

There are many different types of venue you can choose for your wedding; from barns, and garden rooms for hire, through to castles, manor houses, grand estates and the great outdoors. Perhaps you have dreamt about your perfect location since childhood, or maybe there is a family history or strong personal connection with a certain location.

Some styles of venue are simply the perfect match for your theme – however if you have fallen head-over-heels in love with a certain one but know in your heart it will over stretch you financially – stop and take a step back to review your options and priorities. Is there a different package they could offer? What areas are you willing to compromise on?

There is another way and it might just happen to be even more personal and a perfect fit for you…

The second biggest question…

Written by Becks     |    19th July 2017

The second biggest question (after the all important proposal) is ‘How much will our wedding cost?’ Defining your wedding budget will help determine your plans for your special day as well as creating the opportunity for lots of creative thinking and problem solving.

Taken from research provided by bridebook.co.uk, the average cost of a wedding in the UK is currently around £27,000 (excluding honeymoon), with the biggest portion being spent on venue hire, followed by catering and then bridal attire…

You can plan a beautiful wedding on a shoe string, create the most charming and romantic handmade wedding full of your individual personal touches or pull out all the stops for your special day (as well as somewhere else in-between).

Whatever your budget you can create your wonderful day your way…

Planning your day… schedule

Written by Becks     |     10th July 2017

In the previous blog post we looked at when & what to book for your wedding, getting your dream team of suppliers and helpers booked ready to create your perfect wedding. Here’s a detailed checklist to help you schedule in all the different items for your day.  If you are creating a handmade wedding and making a lot of the items yourself, provided they don’t need fresh ingredients or flowers you can make these ahead of time. Intersperse them though your personal schedule. Aim to keep the last couple of weeks before your wedding reserved mainly for any fresh items (flowers, greenery, cake, edible wedding favours) and for setting up and decorating your venues.

Capturing your day…your way

Written by Becks     |      12th June 2017

Photography is generally considered one of the ‘big ones’ for your day – it is the one element you book that has the sole purpose of capturing and recording your day so that you can look back on and re-live it throughout the years – (no pressure then!).

Your photographer has to be ready for the action when it happens and be creative to capture the essence of your day;

…the bridal party, the venue, the weather (and whatever challenges it may bring), camera shy little ones, all the little details you have chosen or that have been personally made for you (or by you)… – lots of brides are opting for a handmade wedding style.

That being said, it does not mean you cannot have fun with your photos – far from it (and I would definitely encourage you to – as this will really help your personality to shine through!). Photography is not the only way to uniquely capture your day either, read on to discover some truly beautiful options…

It is important to update your personal details as they change – and it is not until you need to update them that you realise just how many different authorities, providers and services your records are individually registered with… In some cases you will need separate notification forms; one for an address change and another for name changes, along with original documentation for identification and as evidence, others require a quick letter or phone call. So where do you start? Here’s your check list to get you sorted and up-to-date, as stress-free as possible!

Newly wed!

Written by Becks     |      8th May 2017

The morning of our big day arrived – with an early start to keep to schedule. It was slightly cloudy with a cool breeze and glimpses of blue sky so it looked like a promising day (though we were prepared with our ‘His & Hers’ yellow wellie boots and yellow brolly at the stand by – which had come in very handy for our pre-wedding photo shoot!).
