Set the scene with co-ordinating wedding signage

YOUR PERFECT HANDMADE WEDDING

Setting the scene… wedding signage

Written by Becks     |   4th Oct 2017

We really enjoyed setting the scene at the Merley House Wedding Showcase designing and styling this gorgeous autumn wedding collection with co-ordinating wedding signage.

Complete with personalised ‘Welcome to our wedding’ sign, menus, seating plan, place name tags, table names, and refreshment signage

Wedding signage is the perfect way to welcome your guests, guide them to where they need to be, let them know about all the wedding activities they can participate in as well as informing them of all the different tasty toppings or flavours you have chosen – especially if you are planning a bespoke ‘D.I.Y. drinks bar’! You could create your own recipes and combinations named for the ‘Bride and Groom’s favourite choice’.

Finding your path forward

– design to tell your story

Written by Becks     |   7th Sept 2017
I love this time of year! The first signs of Autumn are already starting to show – with all the expectancy and exciting anticipation of what is to come; a truly beautiful season with stunning displays of colour in the sunshine (and in the rain) – Autumn Bliss. I love each wedding for the same reasons – helping couples to find their path forward in designing and styling their day; the uniqueness of their story; setting the scene with beautiful stationery and the growing excitement as the finishing touches are added… all seamlessly tying together their hopes and dreams to create charming and magical moments in time…

Should you write a wedding gift list?

Should you write a wedding gift list?

Written by Becks     |   31st August 2017

To ask or not to ask – that is the question…

The gift list can cause unease for both the couple and the guests; no one really likes asking for things especially when it comes to money, and no one likes to feel obligated one way or another (as it goes against the very nature behind the act of gift giving; it should be something that is a joyful, unexpected spontaneous experience, a personal act of love) but without a personal wish list it can leave guests in a quandary of what to give…

The guest list

Written by Becks     |    31st July 2017

Of course you want to celebrate your special day with all your loved ones. Compiling your guest list (and seating plan) is often deemed to be one of the stress points in planning your wedding; should you invite “plus one’s”, children, extended family, old school friends, distant relatives, colleagues, friends of the family…? It can be really tricky to know where to draw the line…

Location, location… the venue

THE PERFECT WEDDING

Location, location… the venue

Written by Becks     |    24th July 2017

There are many different types of venue you can choose for your wedding; from barns, and garden rooms for hire, through to castles, manor houses, grand estates and the great outdoors. Perhaps you have dreamt about your perfect location since childhood, or maybe there is a family history or strong personal connection with a certain location.

Some styles of venue are simply the perfect match for your theme – however if you have fallen head-over-heels in love with a certain one but know in your heart it will over stretch you financially – stop and take a step back to review your options and priorities. Is there a different package they could offer? What areas are you willing to compromise on?

There is another way and it might just happen to be even more personal and a perfect fit for you…

The second biggest question…

The second biggest question…

Written by Becks     |    19th July 2017

The second biggest question (after the all important proposal) is ‘How much will our wedding cost?’ Defining your wedding budget will help determine your plans for your special day as well as creating the opportunity for lots of creative thinking and problem solving.

Taken from research provided by bridebook.co.uk, the average cost of a wedding in the UK is currently around £27,000 (excluding honeymoon), with the biggest portion being spent on venue hire, followed by catering and then bridal attire…

You can plan a beautiful wedding on a shoe string, create the most charming and romantic handmade wedding full of your individual personal touches or pull out all the stops for your special day (as well as somewhere else in-between).

Whatever your budget you can create your wonderful day your way…

Scheduling the details

Planning your day… schedule

Written by Becks     |     10th July 2017

In the previous blog post we looked at when & what to book for your wedding, getting your dream team of suppliers and helpers booked ready to create your perfect wedding. Here’s a detailed checklist to help you schedule in all the different items for your day.  If you are creating a handmade wedding and making a lot of the items yourself, provided they don’t need fresh ingredients or flowers you can make these ahead of time. Intersperse them though your personal schedule. Aim to keep the last couple of weeks before your wedding reserved mainly for any fresh items (flowers, greenery, cake, edible wedding favours) and for setting up and decorating your venues.
